The 4 km buffer between the two Koreas. Tour-only access for the Joint Security Area, Third Infiltration Tunnel, and Dora Observatory. Bring your passport and dress smart-casual; jeans and slippers can be turned away. Imjingak peace park, just outside the restricted zone, is open without a tour and has the iconic Freedom Bridge.

UNESCO walled city, walk the full 5.7 km loop.

Joseon dynasty fortress wall, late 1700s, designated UNESCO World Heritage in 1997. Walk the full 5.7 km loop (~2 hours) through four gates and watchtowers, or ride the dragon-shaped trolley between the major sights. Closer to Seoul than people expect, and dramatically less crowded than the city's palaces.

An open-air museum with traditional Joseon-era homes, craftsmen demonstrating old trades, and live performances (farmer's dance, equestrian, tightrope). Frequently used as a sageuk filming location, so K-drama fans recognize it on sight. Plan around 4 to 5 hours on site.

Tree-lined paths, four full seasons.

A small crescent-shaped island in the Han River, famous as a Winter Sonata filming location and beloved for its metasequoia and ginkgo tree-lined paths. Each season has a different signature tree, and the island stays open year-round. Most visitors pair it with the Gapyeong cluster (Petite France, Garden of Morning Calm, Rail Bike).

300,000 m² Korean traditional garden.

One of the largest private gardens in Korea, with themed zones (Hanbando garden, Bonsai garden, Sunken garden). Most photogenic in winter when the entire garden is wrapped in over a million LED lights for the Winter Lighting Festival. Easily paired with Petite France or Nami Island in a single Gapyeong-day loop.

Where the South and North Han Rivers meet.

A peninsula at the confluence of the two Han rivers, framed by an old zelkova tree and a flat wooden boat. Sunrise mist over the water is the signature shot. Quiet, walking-only, photo-first; a contemplative half-day rather than a packed itinerary.

A French village, dropped on a Korean hillside.

A theme park modelled on a Provence village, themed around The Little Prince. Pastel-coloured houses, marionette and music-box exhibits, and a long list of K-drama filming credits ('My Love from the Star', 'Beethoven Virus', 'Running Man'). Pair with Garden of Morning Calm in a Gapyeong day.

Pedal a 4-seater along a retired Gyeongchun line.

Decommissioned section of the old Gyeongchun rail repurposed for 2-seater and 4-seater pedal carts. Tunnels are themed with light and sound (laser show, music). Good fit for couples and families; reservations recommended on weekends.

Korea's largest theme park.

T-Express wooden coaster, Safari World, seasonal flower festivals (tulip, rose, chrysanthemum), and a winter lighting display. Adjacent to Caribbean Bay water park (separate ticket). Plan a full day; weekends are crowded.

Independent galleries, cafes, and architecture.

A planned arts village built by Korean writers, architects, and artists in the early 2000s. Dozens of small museums, indie galleries, design shops, and concept cafes . every building's a different architect's statement. Pair with Paju Book City or Imjingak for a north-of-Seoul half-day.

Korea's first Chinatown, plus a fairy-tale alley next door.

Established in 1883 when Incheon Port opened. The home of jajangmyeon (Korean-Chinese black bean noodles); the Jajangmyeon Museum lives in an original 1900s restaurant. The neighbouring Songwol-dong fairy-tale village is a hillside of murals from European children's stories . popular family-photo loop.

East coast beach + the original Korean coffee street.

Gyeongpo Beach for the East Sea, Anmok Beach for the seaside coffee street that started Korea's specialty coffee culture (Bohemian was the founder). Late-night Jumunjin Port market for raw fish. KTX makes it a feasible single-day round trip; many visitors stay overnight.
